Inspired by the educational philosophies of Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore, Smt. Malati Choudhury, Nabakrushna Choudhuri and their dedicated team introduced an innovative pattern of education, called Nai Talim, in Bajiraut Chhatravas.
Bajiraut Chhatravas - A Place for Children to Grow
BRC was initially founded out of the necessity to provide education and learning for the children of freedom fighters. Their parents, who peacefully resisted the British occupation of India, had fully committed themselves to the freedom struggle. BRC was founded to take care of their children and to educate the social leaders of the future.
Over time, the mission changed. BRC recognised that there was a sector of the Indian population who did not enjoy the benefits of freedom. Even though their country had broken from the chains of the British, they still remained downtrodden. The scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward classes from all over Orissa needed help.
The Utkal Navjeevan Mandal, a sister organisation to BRC, locates children in need of BRC’s help. They bring poverty-stricken tribal children from all over Orissa to BRC so that we can help them.
